The Ossiarch Bonereapers are a military force like no other – organised and efficient, led by generals created by the Nagash, Supreme Lord of the Undead, and lent a measure of his necromantic power. These terrifying bone constructs march forth in macabre splendour to claim the bones of the Mortal Realms so their numbers may continue to swell.
The Ossiarch Bonereapers are one of the Great Necromancer Nagash’s greatest achievements – an elite army of soldiers, crafted from the bones and souls of the dead. These terrible constructs are efficient, loyal, and inexorable, and they grow stronger with every enemy army they defeat, harvesting their very bone-matter in death.
Mortisan Ossifectors are dedicated to fashioning the mightiest constructs of the Bonereaper hosts, from the grotesque firing mechanisms of Mortek Crawlers to the dense bone-matter employed in the dread Morghasts. These necrotic engineers can be found developing their craft even in the midst of battle, sculpting grimly ingenious refinements and applying sorcerous augmentations to their monstrous charges.
The Ossiarch Bonereapers are masters of war, disciplined legions of bone-constructs who slaughter the living with clinical efficiency. Created to serve as the foremost warriors of Nagash, tyrannical god of the dead, they are creatures of magically sculpted bone and cruelly spliced souls, constructed from the harvested remains of the mortals they kill. Their empire has spread far, all in service to the Mortarch and military genius Orpheon Katakros. Detached and merciless, the Ossiarch Bonereapers grind down their enemies with tactical supremacy before seizing their bones to craft new legions of conquest.
The Incarnates that haunt the Krondspine Range are terrifying entities - creations of pure Ghurish energy, protected by monstrous bones and guided by a bestial intellect. In their presence, reason crumbles; the minds of mortals are filled with savagery, and wild energies are unleashed with furious abandon. Even once tamed and bound by powerful heroes, these mighty Incarnates constantly strain to unleash their unstoppable might on the world.
Cleansing Aqualiths are magical shrine-engines used by the Dawnbringer Crusades to bring fresh water to newly-founded settlements. Designed by Collegiate mages, forged by Ironweld engineers, and blessed by Sigmarite priests, these floating metaliths absorb ambient magic to generate an endless stream of purified water. Cleansing Aqualiths can be found throughout the Mortal Realms, in growing settlements and abandoned outposts, chained to the ground and topped with holy statues.
The Mortal Realms are inhabited by many strange and deadly creatures. The megadroths of Ghur are one such beast - titans that stride the plains and swamps, preying on other megafauna. When they die, their fossilised remains often become points of conflict - some seek to claim the primordial amber energy that still suffuses their bones, while others use the corpses as makeshift shelters.
With over 2,100 units made, the Type 97 Chi-Ha medium tank was the second most produced Japanese medium tank of World War II, after the smaller Type 95 Ha-Go. It saw extensive action in the Second Sino Japanese War, the Battles of Khalkhin Gol against the Soviet Union, and throughout World War II.
With Allied bombing and ground campaigns hampering Japanese industry the Emperor’s soldiers learnt to use whatever materials were at hand to face the enemy, as firearms and ammunition became ever more scarce. This would see Japanese soldiers sacrificing themselves with grenades, a courageous last ‘banzai’ charge with swords drawn, or using sharpened lengths of bamboo as makeshift spears.
Japanese paratroopers – Teishin Shudan (raiding group) – proved highly effective in the early years of the war. German successes with paratroops during 1940 encouraged the Japanese to develop their airborne arm as a constituent part of the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force (IJAAF).
Fanatical loyalty and iron discipline were the core of the Imperial Japanese Army ethos, and although it didn’t have the same level of heavy weaponry and vehicles as their Allied opponents they were well supported by the likes of the Type 92 medium machine gun and Type 97 medium mortar.
