When a Chaplain takes to the field on a Raider-pattern bike, he is able to keep pace with even the swiftest armoured advance or spearhead breakthrough. Fighting in such an action, he will urge his brothers to victory as he bellows his catechisms and charges headlong into the foe, crozius arcanum swinging.
Space Marines are genetically augmented warriors, created as Humanity’s ultimate shock troops. Formally known as the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines have defended the Imperium for over ten thousand years. They go to war armed and armoured with the best wargear the Imperium can provide, complementing their enhanced strength, agility, and resilience. They are steeled in mind, body and soul to endure ceaseless war, facing the most monstrous threats throughout the galaxy and knowing no fear.
Intercessors equipped with powerful jump packs soar over the battlefield, slamming into the foe like a hammer from the skies. They swiftly cut down all opposition with point-blank pistol fire and furious slashes from their chainswords, before launching off to engage the next target.
Desolation Marines specialise in unleashing widespread devastation throughout the enemy ranks. Whether direct-firing warheads into massed infantry and enemy armour, or raining down arcing salvoes with their airbursting castellan launchers, these warriors reap a grievous toll amongst the foe.
Dedicated marksmen, Eliminators haunt the shadows of the battlefield, seeking out targets of opportunity and bringing them down with pinpoint volleys of fire. Then, these silent assassins slip away looking for their next prey.
Tactical Squads are the backbone of any Space Marine army. They hold ground; provide fire support and charge into bloody melees, as the ever-changing theatre of war dictates.
The swiftest of the Primaris battle-brothers, Inceptors fill the role of spearhead troops. They hit the enemy in one sudden and overwhelming blow, leaving them reeling as follow-up waves of Space Marines drive home the attack.
Clad in heavy Gravis armour, Aggressor Squads advance on the foe as walking fortresses of ceramite. More mobile than some other Space Marines, they’re better able to negotiate rough ground, making them versatile troops; while they are often employed in specific circumstances or on certain terrain, Aggressor Squads are used as reserves to plug breaches in gun lines or to spearhead an advance.
Deployed as fast-moving rapid-response forces, Space Marine Vanguard Veterans are close-combat specialists. These veterans of the 1st Company take to war propelled by jump packs and armed with the Chapter’s most ancient and revered melee weapons.
Before the molten ire of an Eradicator Squad, heavy armour and defended positions stand little chance. Eradicators wear the heavier Gravis pattern of Mk X power armour, allowing them to stride unharmed through waves of incoming fire before bringing their own destructive weaponry to bear at close range.
Bladeguard Veterans are inexorable warriors, advancing relentlessly with blades held high – the very image of noble knights of myth. Members of their Chapter’s elite 1st Company Veterans, each of these vastly experienced Space Marines has fought to preserve the Imperium across uncounted worlds.
Infernus Squads purge swathes of enemy ranks with the incandescent firestorms they unleash from their pyreblasters. They are close-assault specialists, sending jets of burning promethium into trench lines and bunkers, through dense ruins, and concealing vegetation, ensuring no foe escapes their Chapter’s fiery wrath.
