Fireblades are the most grizzled and seasoned Fire Warriors of their cadre, whose skill at the Fire Warrior's art leads them to eschew battlesuit technology. They are excellent field leaders and their long experience has taught them exactly where to place shots to maximise damage.
When the T'au Empire goes to war, they bring advanced battlesuits, faithful drones, potent energy weapons, and a host of allied races to shore up their weak spots, making their armies some of the toughest to tackle.
The Ethereals are serene and wise – spiritual leaders of the T’au who embody the wisdom and unity of the Greater Good.
Kroot Flesh Shapers are masters of their kindred's genetic development, guiding hunting packs to the finest specimens in order to devour and claim their strength for the Kroot. These revered gene-shamans employ gruesome talismans and ritualised butchery to take the art of consumption to sacred and visceral extremes, with immediate and striking psychosomatic effects on their fellow Kroot.
Kroot Trail Shapers are more than simply masters of fieldcraft – through sheer skill, they shape the very battlefield upon which the Kroot will meet their prey, defining the guiding routes along which the hunt will progress and the nature of the engagements in which their kindreds will fight. A single Trail Shaper can alter the entire character of a war in the favour of the T'au Empire.
Deathmasters are the greatest assassins of the Clans Eshin, trained in the shadowy arts of stealth and contracted to slay those whom influential skaven deem too dangerous to live. Equipped with the latest XV25 Stealth Armour these troops are the 'lone wolves' of the T'au army, operating independently of other formations.
As much a maverick as he is a master of covert operations, Sub-commander E’Myamoto is a formidable leader of stealth and sabotage missions.
Kroot War Shapers are experienced battle leaders, responsible for both the composition and disposition of Kroot hunting packs in the field. They are also exemplary warriors in their own right, striding into battle armed with traditional weaponry that is no less deadly for its symbolic, antiquated natures. Under a War Shaper’s merciless gaze, prey quail while the kindred find renewed strength.
The Soviets were visionaries in the development of airborne troops and tactics, first forming a brigade-sized airborne unit after successful trials in December 1932. More units followed and by June 1941 five Airborne Corps existed in the Soviet order of battle, undoubtedly the strongest airborne force in the world. However in the desperate fighting of the early campaign these formations were pressed into service as regular infantry and virtually consumed.
‘Popular regimentation’ or the ‘people’s militia’ (Narodnoe Opolcheniye or Opolchenie) is a Russian tradition dating back to the 16th century and a powerful part of the national heritage. In times of emergency, a militia was selected from volunteers to serve alongside the regular army and defend their homes.
