Beyond the choking hive cities of Necromunda lie the ash wastes – sprawling outlands plagued by unpredictable weather and vicious beasts, where gangs of prospectors and nomads eke out a precipitous existence between polluted dunes and radioactive skies. Ferried across the rolling roads of this desolate expanse atop a dizzying variety of roaring vehicles, these gangs clash over mining spots, weapons caches, and convoys of precious goods in high-octane skirmishes where anything can happen.

The Squat clans of Necromunda have mined, traded, and survived on this dangerous planet for 10,000 years, travelling the wastes in massive land trains to search for deposits of rare resources. When they locate such a dig site, these abhuman delvers settle in extract all the wealth they can plunder. Gangs of Prospectors patrol tightly-guarded excavations or scout for fresh finds in the ash wastes, armed with finely-engineered weapons and powerful mining tools rigged to serve as improvised armaments.

Ash Waste Nomads have inhabited the Great Equatorial Wastes for as long as anyone can remember. Unlike the outcasts and scavvies, these rugged survivors are born to the wastes, adapted to life in a desolate and deadly environment. Their ragged clothes, rebreather masks, and scavenged weaponry strike terror into the denizens of the hive cities – a fearsome reputation the Nomads exploit as they raid caravans crossing the wastes, seizing sustenance and equipment.

Ash Waste Nomads have inhabited the Great Equatorial Wastes for as long as anyone can remember. Unlike the outcasts and scavvies, these rugged survivors are born to the wastes, adapted to life in a desolate and deadly environment. Eschewing vehicles, which require fixed workshops and extensive maintenance, the Ash Waste Nomads instead tame the macro-insects that live in the wastes. Known as Dustback Helamites, these creatures can swiftly skitter across the shifting dunes, bearing skilled riders to provide loping speed and devastating hitting power on raids.

Ever practical, Orlock gangs employ light four-wheeled vehicles to navigate the harsh terrain of the ash wastes. These Outrider Quads pack serious firepower into a swift (and impressively loud) frame, offering support to the House of Iron whenever and wherever it’s needed. They also act as workhorses for the gang, toting the heavy equipment required for long treks across Necromunda's deadly trade routes.

As low as life may seem in the clutches of Necromunda's gangs, there's always a lower rung to which unfortunate souls can fall. These outcasts, hated and spurned by the 'respectable' denizens of the underhive, gather together to form gangs of their own – be it for greed, ambition, or simply safety.

Rebellion is a poison that runs deep within Necromunda. Each time it bubbles to the surface, industries wither and populations perish, corrupted by false promises of freedom and power. Only the iron will of the Imperial House maintains a semblance of order.

Unlike other Houses, that are built upon vital industries or are bound together by faith, he Delaque have no defined home and no defined industrial role within Necromundan society.

In just a few short millennia, House Orlock has risen from a loose alliance of Clan Families and waste prospectors to become the largest mining operation on the planet.

At once ancient and youthful, House Escher has endured far longer than any other Clan House on Necromunda. Since the times of the first Lord Helmawr, they have established their place as a matriarchy built upon a throne of chems and violence.

Strength is all for House Goliath. Without the physical strength to dominate rivals or to endure the hardships of Necromunda, a Goliath is nothing.

Necromunda is a world rife with lawlessness but the denizens of the underhive know the difference between the ongoing gang squabbles and true crime.
